I got in touch with Richard to see if he could restore some old rim locks. They're interesting and very characteristic of the property, but they badly needed an overhaul, and had no keys either. Richard did a wonderful job. He replaced the parts that were broken or missing, was able to mend some parts that were worn, and made a couple of new keys as well. The locks now look fantastic and work as well as they did when they were made. He's a real craftsman with skill and professionalism and he clearly loves working with these old locks. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I bought a very old wooden cased lock on eBay and sent it to Richard to be refurbished. I'd not used him before but I very highly recommend him. The lock is now superb with a smooth, clean action and very easy to use. He made us three new keys which are big iron affairs in keeping with the age of the lock. The refurb was pretty involved and after a year of use shows no signs of wear. Really appreciate the quality of the workmanship. The price was very reasonable too. Great service, excellent skills, and a smile each time I unlock the door.

Richard came to resolve issue with locks in two museum objects. One was locked with no keys, one was locked and had keys that didn't do anything. He was able to open the locks, service them and create new keys, all with causing no damage at all to the objects. It took several days to open all the locks as they were so seized. They now function beautifully and we have keys for both objects that operate the locks. I can't recommend Richard highly enough. It was a delight to work with him from my initial call to receiving the keys.

Asked Richard to look at the front door handle and mechanism as it was jamming. He turned up exactly when he said he would after phoning to say he was on his way. He fixed the problem very quickly and showed me what had been causing the issue. His work was fast and efficient, his charges are very reasonable and he cleans up after himself. Would definitely recommend him.
